Welcome to the 3rd Episode of the Hot Seat which is our first online debate show that’s light-hearted and fun where you can express yourself on a number of different topics and anything goes! The show that gives you a voice!

In this episode they discuss body image which has been a topic of much debate especially in the last several years. They will answer questions on whether the Media puts pressure on young people to look good.

We at Uoolike believe that the media can encourage unhealthy attitudes towards body image by exploiting peoples insecurities through unrealistic ideals and often promoting biased values in favour of the media’s business gains at the expense of the individual.

“The media has a profound effect on people, particularly women, and the way that they perceive themselves and their bodies. Thanks to television, the Internet, and movies, media has a strong hold on women’s personal perceptions of what beauty is supposed to be. Because of this, it has been known to contribute to some women experiencing eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. Young girls, teenagers, and even young adults should educate themselves about having a healthy body, and learn how to accept themselves for the beautiful person they are inside.”
